The CR community never ceases to amaze and inspire me. Today I received so many lovely (blog) comments and emails; each and every one of them made me smile. I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciated it. Thank you.
Another visit to the physio today for more stretches, strengthening exercises and ultrasound. My left shin is just about right; the right shin is still taking its time. The physio is working on the assumption that I will still be running on Sunday so I'm off to see him again on Friday morning.
However this afternoon I have decided to pull the pin on Sunday's run. On top of everything else, a cold which has been threatening for some time has finally arrived. It seems that I am just not meant to make my race debut yet. C'est la vie. (At least it will give my shins some extra time to recover I suppose).

Jen,
As I think I said to you in the chatroom.
Better to make sure the run you do is your First Race and not your Last Race!
The calendar will give many more opportunities, believe me
Tough decision but its a smart move Jen.
But ya gotta be in one piece for your holiday! Can't wait to hear all the great running stories you bring back with you.
Wise move Jen.
Your focus at the moment needs to be on your health and your upcoming holiday.
Think how much more rewarding your first race will be when you're feeling really healthy and you've been able to train appropriately!
I know how frustrated you are. Take it easy for now and then let's get back into it. The time will fly between now and your race, and it's going to mean a faster time. :)
Jen, hope you're feeling OK today; don't rush your debut race...you've got "years of time"!
So good to meet you last night; a nicer group of people it would be difficult to find....yourself especially included. Take care now & let's know how the shin trouble goes. LL
Sensible decision Jen. There will plenty of other races ahead. The important thing in running is to stay healthy and stay in one piece. If you ran and broke down, you would be missing a lot more than one race. Remember to keep enjoying and keep having fun.
Hi Jen,
Hope you got through the weekend okay and the shins are starting to ease up now.
Looking forward to that first race report. It's gonna be a trouper! :)
