It's a new day....

Saturday 5 May
Really enjoyed my rest day – lots of sleep (10.5 hours on Friday night & 11 hours on Saturday night) & lots of food (and a little bit of wine) ! On Saturday afternoon, I saw “Hell on Wheels”, a doco on the TdF – fantastique ! Zabel’s humility was particularly surprising. One month to go !

Sunday 6 May
Left at 3pm for a 35min run, along the trail starting at Middle Head and heading in the direction of the zoo. Felt great from the start. Made it to Bradleys Head in just on 30mins and decided to try and push it to get to the Zoo/Athol Wharf Road within 35mins. Alas, the 35min mark came and went so I decided to keep running until I finished it – which I did in 36.18 (5.7kms). My longest run in a long time!! Such a different run from last Sunday’s disaster. I felt (reasonably) comfortable most of the way and much more positive mentally. Hip is fine; shins are ok – not great. I realised about half way that I had been ‘tightening’ my toes on my left foot – whether it was in response to the terrain, I’m not sure – but if I’m doing it regularly, it would no doubt contribute to my shin problems. Just another thing to be conscious of. More ice for the shins tonight just in case.

PM – massage - rescheduled to next week

Rest day - moved to Saturday

Saturday 4 June:
AM weights session (upper body) - tick (on Friday morning)

Sunday 5 June:
AM run - 35mins - tick

The week ahead:
* primary goal: to add a third run for the week (she says with fingers crossed)...

Monday:
PM – weights (lower body)

Tuesday:
AM – run (20mins on grass) + a date with Andy the Pod

Wednesday:
AM – spin (45mins)
PM – Satan + dinner with Skizzik and Owl

Thursday:
AM – run (30mins on grass)
PM – massage

Friday:
AM – weights (upper body)

Saturday:
Rest

Sunday:
AM – run (35mins)

Hey Jen, what session were you at for the movie? We sneaked in a bit late to the 6.30pm and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Heya Jen,

How are those shins ? I found a huge improvement when I stuck to the grass only for many months. No races, nothing but soft surfaces. I venture back on the tar every now and then, but try a run most of my long runs on grass/dirt. Worked for me anyway. :)

Hey - 10.5 hours sleep followed by 11 hours? Is this the solution to the blahs? I don't think I've slept longer than 7 hours in about a hundred years!

Keep nursing those shins little miss - glad to see the CRs' advice seems to be helping
