Monday was not my best day. Woke up feeling like I'd been hit by a bus & was about to come down with a cold but I seemed to improve as the day wore on - nothing like a work-induced shot of adrenaline to get you through the day.
I ran away from the office at lunch & headed to the gym for a chest/shoulders/triceps weights session. Great session - despite feeling so blah-ish in the morning, I felt really strong & was able to increase the weights on almost every exercise. Noice.
And later in the day I ran away from the office again (me bad) & headed home for a date with my trusty steed Apollo. Torrential rain (is it wonderful!) ruled out heading out on the roads so I hoped on the trainer & watched the '05 TdF (thanks Miners!). Kept the effort at 75-80% MHR. Tough but enjoyable. Was exactly what I needed after not one of my finest days.
After another terrible nights sleep, I headed out for a run at 5am this morning which went pretty well. Again I pulled the pin at 6km. My glute was slightly more unhappy than it was on Sunday though I wasn't really surprised; the course I took this morning was a touch hilly compared to my pancake- flat run in Canberra & my glutes were feeling a bit fatigued after my session on the bike & strengthening exercises last night. It probably wasn't the wisest decision to do these sessions so close together but a busy social calender this week left me with little choice. Still, a pretty pleasing run on a clear, humid morning :-)
Finished with 5.85k in 37:07mins (aver 6:20min/k)
Spent an hour in the Tiger's torture chamber this afternoon...'nuff said.
MTD: 33.8kms

So did Gary do some good to the glutes in the end? Don't want them carrying on at you like that each run you go out for :(
Now, if you could have come with us Saturday morning, we could have shown you some real glute-testing hills ;)
Hope the massage helps.
Sounds like it's one social week after another Jen ;)
Hope you fit some sleep in there somewhere!
Happy Birthday Jen!!!!
Ha ha, you can run but you can't hide.
Happy Birthday.
Hope Val (entine) was good to you...
