30mins of stretches again to start the day. The idea of getting on the cardio equipment in the gym this evening bored me to tears so I decided to walk home instead. It took me 1 hour 15mins tonight; normally it only takes an hour but I had to walk around a dark, scary park which I normally cut through during daylight hours. It’s quite a tough walk; largely uphill. It also started raining as I was on the Bridge but fortunately it stopped pretty quickly. When I got home, I did another 40mins of stretching (including calf raises, this time 3 x 15 reps – ouch !!) My hip has been pretty good today apart from a few niggles after sitting for long periods. I’m off to the physio tomorrow so I hope I’ll get the OK to start running again. Don’t know if I’ll do the SMC on Sunday. Will wait and see how it is over the next two days. If I do, it will be nothing more than a slow, easy run and (given it’s my debut) a PB !
Today I realised that due to my holiday and my pre-holiday injury and illness, it has been 9 weeks since I trained properly. Yikes !! Scary but I have been training heavily for over a year now without a substantial break which my body no doubt needed (how Zen is that !) My calves/shin problem is/will be an ongoing issue which will need constant attention but it is manageable. I’m looking forward to running consistently again and to stepping up my training regime.
Also today I discovered that my target race for the year – the Blackmores 10kms in Sept – is now only 9kms. WTF ! My target race for the year is now a km shorter. Well, if I don’t achieve my goal of finishing it in sub-1 hour, it will have been a really bad day at the office. Am a bit disappointed by this but I suppose it’s another PB…

Go ZJ!
Sorry for spooking you out about Friday 13th last night.
Hope you got good news today.
Yeah - PB's are great - they are just as good when you "arrange" them :)
