Wow !

Thank you to everyone for your wonderful warm wishes and messages. To answer a few questions - no ring and no date yet (though it will be probably be during October/November next year). It has been an exciting and head-spinning kind of week. I had absolutely no idea that he was planning on proposing so I am still getting used to it!

So back to reality for just a little while. The reason that I haven't blogged recently is that I've been sick :-( Last weekend I developed a head cold. Then a cough developed. By Wednesday the doctor was telling me that I have whooping cough. Don't I feel like a leper. It's alright - I'm not contagious (anymore). I've done absolutely no exercise in 10 days now. The fact that I haven't really thought about it or missed it (even with lots of eating, drinking & celebrating over the last week) has been a pretty good indication of just how crap I've been feeling recently. Clearly the running gods never planned for me to do the CC Half.

I've been off the road now for 2 weeks & my knee still isn't happy. I've probably only had one or two days without any niggles in it so far. My right hip is still tender and tight so I imagine that it will be another 3 weeks before I can start running again. Hopefully by the end of this week I can get back in the pool and the gym and start to work off some of my 'celebrating'. Speaking of which, I'm off to dinner tonight with friends and family for a bit more celebrating ;-)

Well, if there is an ideal time to get sick, it's during an injury break, but like always you don't do anything by halves. We can't just have a common cold, can we?

I hope you will take it very easy during your recovery and not push yourself too hard too quickly.

Take care,
Ben

Only 3 weeks to go before you run again, the time will go so fast with so much else happening in your life.

Hope you start to feel healthier soon.

Never mess with the running Gods Jen. If they say rest - you rest! And if they say drink red wine and eat chocolate then do that too!

Congrats on the engagement! Another CR wedding, more contagious that getting sick at the moment, lol, some of us had better watch out!

N/M about the CC half, if you can't do it and you're in Canberra next year, the Weston Creek half is in March, and it's a good little(!!!) friendly run. We hope to see you there!

It's common for illness to occur during training lay-offs, and I don't think it's just a lucky coincidence (although it's very convenient).

Sorry that you're not feeling so well, particularly after the exciting news! Hope the two aren't related in some weird sexual synergy type of way ...

You looked in pretty good shape at dinner last week, must have been the company, or the champagne.
You'll be back in no time.
