Well it's two steps forward and one step back with my ITB - but at least I'm moving forward I suppose. Met Lil Elf at 12pm today for a lunchtime run. Strangely it must the first time that I've actually run outdoors during my lunchbreak. A beautiful day for a run - clear, warm with a slight breeze. Ran for about 30-35mins throughout the Botanic Gardens and around the Opera House with Lil Elf pointing out parts of the Gardens that will soon become familiar to me - the grassy hill for hill reps and the path for our longer reps in the future....yikes!
As for my ITB, it was good during the run - only a slight niggle just at the end (which is a huge improvement on Saturday) but afterwards once I cooled down the niggle remained and was noticeable walking down stairs this evening. So it is improving but it still has some way to go. I also noticed a touch of tenderness on my tibia this evening (0.5 out of 5 on the shin pain scale) which I haven't experienced for a while so I must not forget to give them some TLC as well. Tonight, a session of glute and calf/tibia exercises followed by stretching and ice for both my ITB and shins. My massage tomorrow couldn't be better timed; hopefully I can iron out these problems a bit more. It was 12 weeks yesterday to the Half....

good good good. Sounds like you're keeping things in check pretty well there with the knee Miss Jen. 12 weeks is also a really good period to build to a specific goal race, so we'll help to keep you focused for the big day.
Hey Jen...
Keep up all your good work, I know it is VERY frustrating, but it will come good. The most important thing to do is stop running when you feel the pain... it will only get more cranky! I found that stopping through out my runs to really strech the ITB and Quads helpful when I was building back up. Look after yourself and you will have a great half in December :)
