Well last night I had a sense of de ja vue when (still recovering from CR drinks), I turned up at the same function room in the Forbes Hotel for my girlfriend's 30th birthday party - I just hope the barman didn't recognise me ;-)Several hours on the dance floor and several cocktails later (Toblerone - an alcoholic chocolate milkshake, yum!), I finally dragged my butt off the dancefloor and home as I had arranged to meet the Owl at Drummoyne at 7.30am for my first ever lap of the Bay.
I felt very, very ordinary this morning (don't think last night's cocktails & the lack of sleep helped with recovery from Friday night...) and while I don't normally eat before a run, I had some toast and honey before leaving home which helped to perk me up. It was quite humid, yet calm and clear this morning for our lap of the Bay. Not long after we started, we ran past the delightful Silverfox. After our lap of the Bay, we ran up to the Bowen Island Bakery for brekkie - yum! It was lovely to catch up with Owl and to fill her in on all the gossip from the CR drinks - none of which can be repeated here ;-)
V. happy to report that my knee is good. It did tighten a few times during the run but I stretched my glutes during our drink stops which, I think, made the world of difference. I am one happy chicky right now !
So in summary: 50mins run (7kms +). Woohoo !!
This week has been the first week in a v. v. long time that my training actually reflected my program. Did I mention that I am one v. happy chicky right now??

I thought you were working at the Forbes on Friday night. Better go before one of us sheds more tears.
Well done too on the strong performance.
Good grief - what on earth did you lot get up to on Friday? When do I get to hear the gossip?
Glad to hear your knee behaved itself, maybe it just responds well to lots of alcohol and little sleep.
Great time Jen for your run! Sounds like you might need a week to get over the weekend!
Like Cirque I wanna hear more about Friday night too - especially about those alcoholic chocolate milkshakes!
And getting up and hitting the road the next morning - you are a true runner :-)
I love Toblerone but never heard of an alcoholic drink one! Have to admit, it does sound tempting...I'll just have to get myself to the next drinks....might hear some of the gossip!!
Great report on your run too, Jen; going great guns!
Did you have something yummy at Bowen Island ???? My fav is the fruit toast! It's usually what motivates me the last few kms of my run!
I must have left before all the excitment on Friday.... You have stamina two nights in a row :) Go the girls :)
See you Saturday night... it is still on isn't it! We can catch up a bit more then :)
Katie
