After discussing the issue with my mentor/guru yesterday, I decided that it was time that I graduated from the oval and got back on the road. Let's face it, I could keep running around and around in circles around the ever-darker oval but that would be boring.
So the plan for this morning was 4 x 5min run with a 1min walking recovery. Given that I live in one of Sydney's hilliest suburbs, finding a flat bit of road to run on not far from home (just in case I had to bail...) was pretty bloody hard so in the end I did an 5mins out & back in either direction from home.
Very pleased to report that TPC was happy; no discomfort at all! *yippee* My cardio fitness felt good - there is something to be said for walking breaks - though my legs were getting tired towards the end. Happy days :-)
Edit: headed to the gym tonight for an upper body weights session - a circuit of:
* reverse dumbbell flyes (increased to 7kgs);
* single arm cable rows;
* barbell bicep curls;
* single arm lying tricep extensions;
* lat pulldowns; and
* internal/external rotator cuff stuff,
repeated twice. Tough, particularly given I increased the weight on the first exercise in the rotation. Nice way to end a good day :-)

Another step in the right direction Jen. Well done! :)
Great stuff Jen. It's great to read that it is starting to come together for you.
Excellent news!
Yay Jen - nothing like a good road show!
Well done mate - this is fantastic news ;-)
Jen, not exactly sure where you live in the suburb. But a flat road maybe Middle Head Rd or Belmont Rd. Or the beachfront at Balmoral is flat.
Such great news Jen!!!
If hills in your area are a problem can you do some treadmill running at the gym?
Good news. I wish I lived in an area with more hills. Make the most of them, it will show at C2S.
