Thanks to the PG for checking up on me over the last few days :-)
Now while I think of it, the following 'runs' are on my new non-racing training program:
* Blackmores 9km where I will be keeping Lulu company - 17 Sept;
* Fitzroy Falls 10kms - 14 Oct;
* Central Coast Half - 3 Dec;
* Black Stump - 1 Jan.
Let it be known that I'm not racing any of these (except maybe for the FF10kms). The CC Half in particular I'm just treating as an LSD run. A few people have asked me in the last few days if I think of the CC Half as my nemesis I didn't get to the start line last year. In all honesty, I don't. Although I don't have a Half PB (thanks for the non-Half Hunter Valley), I've since done W2G so I admit that some of the 'gloss' of doing my first Half has worn off. For me this year, the focus of the CC Half weekend is on having a fun weekend with my friends.
Wednesday's run left my legs feeling rather beaten up. So I headed back to the oval this morning for 45mins going round & round in circles sans-iPod at about 6:30min/kms pace.
Clearly I don't bore easily.
18 odd laps later, I finished with 7.10kms for my 45:09mins (aver 6:21min/kms). I've noticed in the last few weeks how my sessions are slowly but surely getting quicker. It's nice to have more than one speed. My legs are feeling much better this afternoon than they did on Wednesday afternoon so heading back to the oval for this session was the right thing to do.
I had planned to do the (hatha) yoga class at lunch but got caught in a conference call & missed it. So I left the office at 5pm and, rather than heading for work drinks, went to the gym for a GRC Pilates class. How is that for dedication? One of the toughest I've done so far. Good way to end a rather ordinary week.
MTD: 43.42kms

So you have decided to run for the fun of it? Sounds like a great plan J!
Sounds like a good plan. More soft surfaces than hard. Taking it slow and steady. Very sensible.
Black Stump Fat Ass ? Hmmm sounds tempting...
Sounds like you are approaching things sensibly Jen and listening to your body. Sometimes, you have just got to forget about the pace you are running and just enjoy yourself. Then you are pleasantly surprised how much easier it is mentally. You will be doing well to do all those runs you have mentioned.
Great to have all those 'training runs' on your new schedule Jen.Very admirable decision attending a tough pilates session over drinks! Well done!!
