A sea change...

I have been contemplating a sea change for some time. But it's getting close to decision-making time. Combined with long days in the office, it's making this a stressful yet exciting time for me.

Monday 7 August: what doesn't kill me....
A date in the gym with Satan after work. As always a tough session - on the menu today was:

* first a circuit (using a 15kg barbell) of 20 reps of bent-row overs, bicep curls & squats each with no break in between each set followed by 30 starjumps (sans barbell) - repeated 3 times. My quads were completely fried after the second set...

* finally a second of push-ups, a (side) prone-hold for obliques & crunches, repeated twice.

Needless to say, I slept bloody well.

Wednesday 9 August: white hot...
Headed back to the oval today. I had 40mins on the plan but needed to get into work asap so cut it back to 30mins & decided to find out what a 6min/km felt like (after all my slow stuff lately) while trying to work on my new technique. It's beginning to feel more natural.

Finished with 4.99kms in 30:09mins - aver of 6:02min/km - so on the face of it, it looks like I achieved my goal. The splits tell a different story:
7:01
6:19
5:57
5:38
5:17 !!

At the moment (Thursday) I'm not sure whether I will run C2S. I'm fighting off a cold. And now that I'm out of W2B & cutting back the training a bit, there doesn't seem to be much point in doing a hilly 14kms run when a flat 12kms last weekend left me with unhappy lower legs. But don't think I'm about to miss out on the fun.....

PS my faith in the fact that my clients appreciate what I do is renewed. I had a wonderful surprise today - clients sent me a dozen long stem red roses to thank me :-)

Hope the cold doesn't become in something bigger, so you can enjoy Sunday's race, wish you have lots of fun :)

You made some special speed session that is great!

Did you bill the clients for handling and perusing the roses?

Very impressive, client gifts don't come often. Hope you showed the boss.

Hope to see you joining the fun at Bondi on Sunday.
