Zero. Zip. Nada.

I did absolutely no exercise over the weekend. Nada. Zip. Zero. I don't remember the last time I did that. And I didn't feel guilty. After rolling over & turning the alarm off on Friday morning, I decided to give myself the weekend off in the hope that my sore throat and sniffle would disappear and my mojo would return by Monday.

After a sleep-in & a lazy morning around the house on Saturday, Miners picked me up at about 4.30pm to head to Owly's place. Owly had kindly offered to let us stay on Saturday night as the pre-C2S dinner was just around the corner from her house. After some apricot loaf and a chat it was off to dinner. It was great to catch up with the lovely banjo playing Tesso (*waves*) and a few others I hadn't seen in a while. I also managed to blow Sparkie away, & keep up with O Runner, in the pizza eating contest so it was a productive evening all round. Thanks Owly for your wonderful company - you are right - I think we both needed it :-)

Yesterday (Sunday) morning we were up early as Miners and Owly got ready to run and I sat on the couch watching them. Go Girl arrived shortly before 7am for a quick hello before she & Miners set off to get a bus to the start. Owly & I left not long after as Caro and another RunClubber had kindly offered us a lift into the city. I waved goodbye to the girls at Town Hall and had a coffee while waiting for my fellow cheerleader Rags to arrive. Fortunately for the masses, Rags had left his short skirt & knee high cheerleading boots at home ;-)

Rags & I arrived at Bondi early after getting a train from Town Hall & a bus from Bondi Junction so we found a cafe and sat down for a leisurely breakfast while taking in the view & quickly decided that we had adopted the most sensible method of transport to Bondi on such a fine morning.

At about 10am, we were joined by Sparkie as we headed up to our vantage spot, just near the North Bondi Surf Club, for a couple of hours of cheering, later joined by Nando and then Owly (bearing more apricot loaf). Once everyone we knew had past us, we headed over to the Strider's tent before being quickly rounded up & pointed in the direction of the pub for a drink or three. Owly & I ended up leaving at about 5.30pm to get a bus back into the city, at which time Owly had the wonderful idea of getting some sushi for dinner - a much healthier &nutritiouss dinner than the cereal & toast I would otherwise have had. Just before 7pm we said our farewells and I got home at about 7.30pm, one very tired cheerleader.

I tend to think of C2S as my "running anniversary". Last year's C2S was my first ever fun run. I guess that makes yesterday my first running anniversary. Unfortunately I spent yesterday (as I have spent most of the last year) cheering instead of running. As much as I enjoy cheering & consider it "soul food", I'm really quite jack of it. No, that's not true. It's not the cheering that I'm jack of. It's the "not running" part that I am seriously jack of. I suppose I could give up running & take up another sport - like lawnbowls. Or needlework. Or trainspotting. Or drinking - but I doubt any of those sports will nourish my soul or give me a greater sense of accomplishment than running does.

Today (Monday) I'm still sans-goal - I have a few in mind but nothing concrete yet - but managed to drag my butt out of bed this morning for an easy 20mins (recovering from cheering) run around the oval (again). 3.03kms in 20:34mins (aver 6:47min/kms). The arch of my left foot was really tight which I tried to ignore by focusing on my technique and footfall. It didn't work.

After work today I headed into the gym for a not-so-easy weights session with Satan. Today's party consisted of:

* a circuit of dead-lifts, shoulder press and bicep curls (sans break) with 12.5kg barbell (3 sets);

* then a circuit of side leg lifts, rotator cuff moves and her favourite side oblique move (2 sets).

Nasty. My legs & shoulders are toast.

I see ellie knows you well enough ...

thank you for all your zip, nada efforts over the weekend. It wouldn't have been half the weekend without you.

In sad news however, I just confirmed that puffing billy (http://www.puffingbilly.com.au/info/specials/great_train_race.htm) and nail can hill (http://www.users.bigpond.com/nmccann/nailcan.htm) both have hopeless timing regarding your planned trip.

hmmm ... thinking caps on

Thanks again for the cheers.

I'm also sans running goal (& offically in retirement for a few days at least) with so many runs on the calendar; take it as it comes for a while.

That's what you get when Don Juan does a serious blog comment; full of himself.

What do you mean no exercise over the weekend??? All that cheering must've worn you out. But I'm sure all the CRs as well as everyone else out there sure appreciated it.

I was over on the left hand side of the race from about 11 onwards as I was sooooo looking forward to seeing you guys. For a while there I thought maybe you'd shifted across the road and was tempted to run back and have a look :-)

Thanks so much for being out there.
